Is India the new land of Opportunity?

I know India is still a developing country and may be 25-50 years to go before it can be called a Developed nation. But is this the beginning? May be it is. This "In a Twist, Americans Appear in Ranks of Indian Firms" news item in NYtimes.com is newsworthy because, the fact all these years has been, Indians standing in long lines for visas in US embassies and Consulates. I am sure US will continue to be a land of opportunity for Indians and People from all over the world for many years to come.

Things are moving quite fast in India. The average salary of Indian IT / ITES professionals is growing quite fast. This is fuelling a growth which i feel is sustaiable over the next couple of decades. As a result of this growth almost all sectors like transpostations, services sectors like hospital, hotel industry, travel sector, etc are also growing quite fast. Only, bottleneck being the basic infrastructure which the government is unable to provide. So, i am quite optimistic about new and resurgent India, though the only thing that bothers me is that this growth is not quite uniform and there are still big pockets of underdevelopment and poverty in India.
